The entire process probably took me two weeks but you can speed up the process if you have time.

1. Application (it takes 5 minutes and you can not attach your resume).  APPLY HERE
2. Interview.  This takes place online with one of their representatives in China.  This is when you can provide the nitty gritty details from your resume since you were unable to attach it previously.  
• During the interview, you will also teach a short 15-30 minute practice class.  The VIPKids representative will pretend to be a 5 year old child and you will teach them a lesson (which is provided).  You will have access to the lesson ONE HOUR before your scheduled interview.  At the one hour mark BEFORE the interview starts, you will have access to their special forum so that you can TEST YOUR EQUIPMENT, playing with the lighting and sound quality and practice the lesson.  One hour is plenty of time!  
• WARNING!  During this pretend class, the VIPKid representative will seem unengaged, bored or even unruly.  Remember, they are acting like a 5 year old child!  They want to know how you correct the student, keep their interest, and modify their behaviour if needed.  Please note that I have never had an unruly student in real life.  Bored maybe but not unruly.  
3. LOTS OF READING.  The entire processes takes a few hours of reading and/or watching videos.  You'll learn all about how to teach online (which is very different from other classrooms and you'll learn about the company --history, your contract, etc).  This is LONG but you'll learn about their standards for teaching and this will help you for the next two steps.
4. Mock 1 class.  You will be required to teach 2 classes -- one level 1 class and one level 4 class.  Level 1 students are generally 5-7 years of age while level 4 classes are for older students (aged 9-12).  The person on the other end of MY interview was also a teacher which actually helped reduce my nerves.
5. Mock 2 class.  Most people require both Mock 1 and Mock 2 classes but I didn't have to do this second part of the process for unknown reasons.  This Mock 2 class is basically the SAME thing as the Mock 1 class.

HELPFUL TIP!

You MUST use Total Physical Response (TPR).  In short, TPR is a method of teaching language based on listening and physical activities.  Use your hands.  Point to your mouth when you want them to listen and repeat.  Cup your ear when you want to hear what they are saying.

AFTER YOUR HIRED...

As previously mentioned, you do not need much as a VIPKids teacher.  

You need 

1. A computer (tablets do not work with their software)
2. High speed internet
3. Headphones (recommended, not required)
4. Orange shirt (this is their color.  Teacher are no longer required to wear orange shirts)
5. Props (do not invest a lot of money.  Keep it simple!).
